While we do not expect to serve all markets of Kauai's travelers, if you are looking for professional and quality accommodations to access West Kauai and it's rugged beauty, you can expect the utmost satisfaction with our services. Some trails lead to views of Waimea Canyon, others wind through wet forests with sweeping views of valleys opening up to the North Shore. The park also offers roughly 45 miles of the state's finest hiking trails. Spread over 4,345 acres on a plateau 3,200 to 4,200 feet above sea level, Kokee State Park is covered in forest, wild flowers and hiking trails making it an excellent spot to see native plants and colorful endemic Hawaiian forest birds like the apapane, iwi and moa. North of Waimea Canyon on Kauai’s West Side is Kokee State Park. Stretching 14 miles long, one mile wide and more than 3,600 feet deep, the Waimea Canyon Lookout provides panoramic views of crested buttes, rugged crags and deep valley gorges. Waimea Canyon, on Kauai's West Side, is described as "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Although not as big or as old as its Arizona cousin, you won’t encounter anything like this geological wonder in Hawaii. If the conditions of a wet and mountainous forest are not what you are looking for, DO NOT STAY AT THE CABINS AT KOKEE PARK! You will be much happier at one of our arid ocean level accommodations at the entrance to the park and visit the park daily at your convenience. As the saying goes, there is no stopping Mother Nature. While this achieves impressive greenery, it also comes with fallen trees, soft and/or slick soil, and mosses/mildews. The Cabins are also located in close proximity to the center of Kauai touted as the wettest spot in the world. While we work overtime to manage mountain/forest critters and foliage, you can expect to see these things at the cabins. Most find building a fire at their cabin while on vacation to be a fun and unique experience. With occasional cold snaps! High quality firewood is available to purchase for heating with the only heat source for the Cabins the wood burning stove. 40-70 Fahrenheit in the winter and 50-80 Fahrenheit in the summer on average. This means you can expect temperatures 20 Fahrenheit lower than at sea level. ![]() These are cabins in the MOUNTAINS! Many are not accustomed to thinking that in Hawaii, you can be cold! The Cabins are located above 3000 feet. This being said, this remote location does come with some inconveniences. Combine this with the cultural heritage of such a place and you have the makings of a deep experience thick with wonder and spirituality. The visual rewards are simply spectacular. There are many who feel the Koke'e Experience is paralleled by no other. This is a rare and valuable treasure that those in the know have great appreciation.
